Keely and Du Auditions

An Overview:

A volatile but relevant subject, Keely and Du tells the story of Keely, a pregnant rape victim kidnapped by a group of right-to-life activists intent on ensuring she brings her child to term. In captivity she is cared for by kind motherly figure Du, and lectured by activist leader Walter. As the play progresses, the audience watches as the two women are forced to see life from the other's perspective, and an unexpected bond forms.

Parental guidance strongly suggested for some adult language and themes.

What to Expect:

Auditions will consist of cold reading of excerpts (sides) from the script. No preparation is required.  Please arrive at the start time for auditions.

For those wishing to familiarize themselves with the script in advance, a public table reading will be held on Sunday, August 23rd at 5:00pm at the theater. All are welcome to participate, regardless of intent to audition.

Character Breakdown:

DU (female, 60s): A registered nurse, female guard of Keely.

WALTER (male, 50s): A sanctimonious, self-righteous fanatical pastor

KEELY (female, 30s): A pregnant, divorced woman.

COLE (male, 30s):  Keely’s alcoholic ex-husband

PRISON GUARD (female, 50s)
