A note from our Artistic Director

Hello theater people! I hope you are all well, safe and surviving these strange times.
As soon as we are able, the Belfast Maskers will be back at “The Bazz” producing entertaining, exciting and thought-provoking plays and musicals. The Board of Directors, various committees and I continue to work together via Zoom to make plans and adjustments to prepare for the days when we can open our doors to the community.
When the Basil Burwell Community Theater reopens, we will plan to resume performances of AS YOU LIKE IT. Even though we only got to perform for two nights in March, those shows were met with rave reviews! We want everyone to have the opportunity to experience this marvelous adaptation of Shakespeare’s comedy.
After AS YOU LIKE IT, we hope to mount our annual cabaret style “Culturally Cool” One Act Plays (with wine and cheese, if you please!). Our four one-act plays have been written by four Maine authors, who have kindly given the Maskers permission to produce their plays. Auditions were held before we had to close the building to ensure everyone’s safety, and an amazing cast was assembled! They continue to learn their lines from home and look forward to performing for you soon.
Unfortunately, THE DROWSY CHAPERONE had to be cancelled, but we are working right now to offer another musical at some time this summer. Stay tuned for that announcement!!
If all goes well, the rest of our season will remain the same: ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO’S NEST, October 8-18 and SCAPINO!, December 3-13.
I will keep you posted when more details are available. Till then, stay well and THANK YOU for your continued support of the Belfast Maskers.
